Ratlings, BloodPact style

I picked up some of the new skaven clanrats for a xenos mercenary unit.  I was planning on using them as Penal troops, thinking the random table + outflank would represent their feral alien nature.  Unfortunately, the new clanrats come up to the stomach of a guardsman.  Not quite right, as it meant the kroot rifle I was using was more than twice their height.  As much as I hate the pun, they're perfect for Ratling snipers, BloodPact style.  On to the pictures!

  1. These are really nice. I may steal the idea and use them for Jezzails in my fantasy Skaven army.

  6. Great job on them, it is a great pun but even better looking snipers! I might just end up taking your idea if I ever consider adding snipers, and with the ways yours looks I may end up adding them just for the looks

Brilliant! I'm assuming those are just kroot arms you're using instead of the Skaven arms, correct? I've been thinking of making a Hrud "counts-as" Dark Eldar army with something like this as the DE Warriors. Terrific to see that the idea actually works and looks pretty damn good, too!

  8. Glad they're so popular, thanks everyone! It's gratifying to have inspiration turn out so well and then be so well received. It's an easy conversion, kroot arms on a skaven body. Clip off the left arms and drill out a flat space on both sides (the right arm is a socket that I drilled flat). The only tricky part is getting the arms to meet at a convincing angle.

  9. Sweet Chocloate-Coated Christ those look nice! Can I just say that the Guard army you're building looks sooooo much better than the one I'm building?

So would this mean that the Blood Pact has hired some Hrud Mercenaries?

  10. That's exactly what it means! And not those silly history-rewrite Hrud from Black Library's Xenos book.

  14. Outstanding, simply outstanding. Consider yourself flattered because you've inspired another rat player to copy you sir! Now I just need to look for a slave rat model and a shield that can serve as a the giant pavise.

I love it! I'm making some jezzails, but only if the island of blood clanrats don't have their armes attached. I already have 200 clanrats, so I'm not going to buy another box :p
