Trial and error has taken me to the point where I am pretty happy with the paint on my 2009 era USMC in 15mm.  These are modern US infantry from Rebel Miniatures.  Unfortunately Rebel only supplies M240g with these infantry, no M249 saws which make these fireteams inaccurate for any US modern infantry.  The sculpting also leaves some to be desired as the marine with the M203 (far right, all three

So far I've only played one game of Warhammer Fantasy, but that's the same number of 40k games I've played in the last few months.  Inspiration has been lacking, but I'm leaning towards a pure Tzeench force using the brown/sepia paint scheme from my last post. I had fun painting this model up, which makes me think I should do more like it.  I remember a few years ago when I couldn't wait to paint, but it became a chore to paint everything.  After all this hobby is about collecting, sometimes playing, and painting.  In that order.  :) I had to use natural light to show the subtle details, but the sun was setting so it threw some pretty harsh shadows.

I took a break from the huge tank project to build a Bastion I picked up. The new Planetstrike book allows the defender to have bunkers, but GW only makes an imperial version, nothing for the other armies. Here is the beast. I went to Michael's arts and crafts and found a wooden egg of the correct size. Unfortunately it came in two pieces so I pinned them together with the help of my dremel and brownstuffed the gap, sanding it down with my dremel as well. The white plasticard visible in the picture is the start of my first engineering attempt: plasticard legs like a preying mantis. Wish me luck

I've been pondering how to represent the various Blood Pact vehicles from the novels. The stalk tank seems the most problematic and seems likely to end up scratch built. I set down and painted a test model and it worked out so well I painted another the next day. I'm having fun painting these one at a time and skipping the assembly line. I wasn't going to use vox-casters, but Gaunt's Ghosts mentions many times how well coordinated, trained and equipped the Blood Pact are. Even mentioning them looting imperial voxs. So the squad was finished off with a vox and an RPG.Vox; talking on the horn.RPG and loader.Gave this guy a press-molded grotesk to make him fit in. Peer pressure and all.
